How to proceed
In order to take any of the NABS tests it is first necessary to register on the TCP web site (see top left corner of large print side bar). This is a straightforward procedure that requires some basic contact information being provided to the program. Once registered you will be set with a user name and password to Login to the program site. This allows you to register for any of the online image tests and specimens to genus tests:
Self evaluation (description)
Family (description and registration form)
Genus (description and registration form)
For Family (online) and Genus (specimens) tests it is necessary to first fill out the online registration form for the event and test you wish to take:
Family test procedures
When you wish to take an online Family test you will note that there are a number of centres where you can take the test. To assure quality control on the test it is necessary for you to maje arrangements with a Family test supervisor. The procedure is:
- Select a test location (see list of locations) and supervisor.
- Contact the test supervisor to arrange a mutually acceptable test appointment.
- Fill out the Test Registratin form with your date, location and Proctor's name.
- Go to the testing location on the appointed date.
- The supervisor will verify the candidate.
- Make payment of $50, payable by credit card online through PayPal or cheque to NABSTCP in a stamped & addressed envolope handed to your test Proctor before the test.
- Log on to the web site to take the test. Then the Proctor will login.
- Proceed with the test.
Genus test procedures
When tests have been scheduled (see "Genus Test Centres/Supervisors" about organising a certification event) they will appear under upcoming tests on the side bar which includes the test registration form if you are logged on to the site.
- Complete the test registration form, an email will automatically be generated informing the TCP of your candidacy.
- All on site arrangements will be made with the test supervisor.
- The details of the actual test are described under the description of the Genus test.
- Once the test is completed you will be notified by email of your preliminary result, subject to verification of any misidentified specimens.
- Once final verification is completed you will be contacted by mail and a certificate will be provided if the test has been successfully taken.
